IT Support Technician

PitStop is looking for an IT Support Technician to maintain our IT systems, processes and equipment, whilst working alongside our current IT service provider.

We’re an independent audio service provider for the video games industry, and as we grow, we’re focusing on improving our information security and internal IT solutions. You’ll support a team of 100+ creatives across South Yorkshire and London, working on a wide range of game titles from indie to AAA, so they can deliver amazing audio content to our worldwide clients across the videogames industry.

This role is perfect for someone with hands-on generalist experience, looking to develop their skills as the business expands. If you’re passionate about video games, highly organised, and enjoy a challenge, this is an exciting opportunity. You’ll be the first point of contact for IT support within our team, playing a key role in keeping our technology efficient and secure. Over time, you’ll have the chance to increase your responsibility and take ownership of varied projects. Responsibilities:

The responsibilities below are not a definitive list, rather a general overview of the role. It is envisaged that the post-holder will proactively develop the job so the aims of the business are achieved. 

  • Managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls

  • Endpoint Protection – Monitoring security alerts, managing antivirus threats, reviewing blocked emails, and handling whitelisting requests

  • Acting as the primary liaison for our external IT provider for matters such as the network infrastructure and our Microsoft directory

  • Asset Management - Cataloguing and indexing company assets across PitStop, actively managing an inventory of IT hardware and software, ensuring timely maintenance

  • Support our team with troubleshooting and fixing issues, managing the ticketing system, diagnosing and resolving technical issues as they arise, providing general IT recommendations and advice

  • Completing 3rd party risk assessments relating to Information Security, and assuring compliance with remediation planning

  • Writing, updating, and implementing IT policies, as well as providing IT recommendations and advice, with cost management in mind

What Skills Are We Looking For?

Technical Skills:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in IT Support or in a similar role (Candidates with relevant internships or entry-level IT experience are encouraged to apply)

  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, services, and security features and an awareness of cybersecurity best practices

  • Understanding of troubleshooting methodologies

  • Excellent desktop support skills with the ability to assist end-users effectively

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with both internal teams and external IT service provider

  • Knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems, with the ability to carry out basic repairs on equipment


Desirable:

  • Experience in administering and managing Microsoft 365 user accounts, licences, and security settings

  • Hands-on experience with network administration, including router and switch configurations would be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of professional recording studio hardware and audio equipment

  • Demonstrated expertise in version control software, especially in the context of game development

  • Awareness of server storage management and maintenance tasks, to enable regular data backups

  • RMM experience would be an advantage - helpdesk and ticketing

Working hours: 9.30am - 6pm working Monday - Friday, with a one hour unpaid lunch break.

Contract Length: Permanent 

Salary: £26,000 - £32,000 dependent on experience.

Location: Fully in-house in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Please ensure you are willing to commute or relocate in order to attend the office. Some work will be occasionally needed at our Croydon studios.
